Đậu hũ non rửa sạch, cắt miếng hình vuông hoặc tam giác. Hành lá rửa sạch, cắt nhỏ rồi cho ra chén.
Làm nóng dầu ăn trong chảo, cho đậu hũ non vào, chiên vàng giòn. Sau đó, gắp đậu hũ ra đĩa hoặc rây có lót sẵn một lớp khăn giấy để ráo dầu.
Nước sốt: Lần lượt cho tất cả cá gia vị: nước tương, tương ớt, tiêu, mật ong, đường trắng, 2 muỗng canh nước lọc vào trong chén nước mắm, khuấy đều.
Tiếp tục dùng chảo trên, làm nóng chảo trên bếp, khi chảo vừa bắt đầu nóng thì đổ chén sốt gia vị vừa trộn vào, sau đó trút đĩa đậu hũ chiên vào, đảo đều. Khi nước sốt sôi thì hạ lửa, rim liu riu trong khoảng 15 phút. Thỉnh thoảng lật mặt đậu cho gia vị thấm đều.
Khi nước sốt sánh lại thì trút mè rang cùng hành lá thái nhỏ vào. Đảo đều lại lần nữa rồi tắt lửa.
